The
children of Mozambique are its future, yet they have suffered
tremendous hardships over many years. It is our duty to protect
this future. Imagine's
efforts to do so includes the supporting of an existing project
financially, logistically or administratively, or the founding
of a programme of work aimed at protecting, developing and
enriching the lives of underprivileged or endangered children.

We support a local "Street Boy" centre run by the
Anglican Church. Although there is a very serious side to
this support - we also believe in the lighter, fun, side.
This includes our Tuesday afternoon football sessions for
up to 50 boys (something which we have been doing for 12 years
now) and the Christmas "festa", held on a local
beach.

Our
other development work includes supporting educational opportunities,
at kindergarten, primary or secondary school levels/supporting
basic healthcare/and supporting a refuge for orphaned, abandoned
or seriously ill children. This includes providing basic materials
such as clothing, bedding, in-house equipment and materials
etc. and financial donations

children sit on concrete floors for lessons

Another
interesting project involved the secondary schools producing
and acting out a play on how the battle against AIDS is viewed.
The unmistakable message was that in Mozambique we have no
time for subtle messages about AIDS ! Support for the schools
takes many forms. Recent support included provision of over
2,000 pen/pencils etc. cases (one for each child in Zimpeto
school) organised by a London school.
